Setting Up Multi-Factor Authentication (Mobile)

  • Updated

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Assignar account by requiring a verification code in addition to your password when logging in.

Before You Begin

There are three methods available for 2FA:

  • Authenticator app (e.g. Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator)
  • Email
  • SMS

Steps to Enable 2FA

  1. Go to your profile
Once logged into the Assignar mobile app, tap your profile avatar in the top right corner of the home screen

  2. Open Account Login settings
Tap Account Login to access your login and security settings.

  3. Select Manage two-factor
On the Account Login screen, tap Manage two-factor at the bottom of the page.

  4. Add a two-factor method
Tap + Add two-factor. then select your preferred method from the dropdown.

Authenticator Options

  1. Authenticator App:
    1. Open your authenticator app and either:
    2. Scan the QR code displayed on screen, or
    3. Manually enter the Base32 encoded secret key shown
    4. Once added, your authenticator app will generate a one-time code. Enter this into the Verification code field and tap Enable.

  2. Email:
    1. Enter the email address you would like to receive codes to, then tap Send a one-time code. Once you receive the code, enter it into the Verification code field and tap Enable.

  3. SMS:
    1. Enter the mobile phone number you would like to receive codes to, then tap Send a one-time code. Once you receive the code, enter it into the Verification code field and tap Enable.

Save your recovery codes

Once 2FA is enabled, you will be shown 10 recovery codes. Save these in a secure location - they will not be shown again. These codes can be used to log in or disable 2FA if you ever lose access to your authenticator app.
Tap Done to return to the two-factor management screen.

Logging in with 2FA

After enabling 2FA, you will be prompted to enter a verification code each time you log in. Enter the current code from your authenticator app / email / SMS and tap Verify.

You can also tick Trust this computer for 30 days to skip the verification step on that device for 30 days.
