Create Order Templates and Duplicate Orders for Faster Scheduling

  • Updated

If you schedule the same work over and over, order templates and the Duplicate Order option let you set up repeat work faster, without rebuilding the same order details each time.

Before you start

To create a template from an existing order, you will need an order already set up in the Scheduler.

Create an order template from an existing order

If you already have an order with repeatable work, you can turn it into a template.

  1. Go to Work Planning > Scheduler.
  2. Find an order with repeatable work.
  3. Next to the order name, click the more options (three dots) icon.
  4. Click Edit Order.
  5. In the order's details, click Create Template.
  6. Make any changes you need.
  7. Click Save.

The template now appears under Create From Template the next time you add an order.

Create an order template from scratch

You can also build a template directly from the New Order window, without starting from an existing order.

  1. Go to Work Planning > Scheduler and click Add New Order.
  2. In the New Order window, click Create Template.
  3. On the Create Template screen, enter a Template Name and set the number of Days. You can also add Tags and Comments.
  4. Under Roles (Tasks), click Add Role (Task). Select a Role (Task), then set the Qty, Start time, End Time, Offset and Duration. Add a Description and Role (Task) forms if you need them.
  5. Switch to the Activities (Cost Codes) tab to set your cost codes and estimated quantities. Select an activity, then enter the quantity. You can also click Import to add activities in bulk.
  6. Click Save Template.

Duplicate an order

If you need to repeat work you have already done for a client, duplicating an order can be quicker than starting again.

  1. Click the more options (three dots) icon at the end of the order name and choose Duplicate Order.
  2. Choose whether to duplicate the assignments and rebook the same resources. Select Yes or No.
  3. You are taken to the order details page, where you can fine-tune the order before saving. Once saved, it appears on the Scheduler.
