Add, edit, or delete inductions (orientations)

  • Updated

Add, edit, and delete inductions (also called orientations) so you can track the site and client inductions your field workers need to be compliant. Like competencies, inductions can carry an expiry date so upcoming expiries are visible on your dashboard, and you never miss one.

Before you start

The induction name you enter appears in induction drop-down lists in the Dashboard and in the Assignar mobile app, so keep it clear and consistent.

Decide whether each induction needs an expiry date, an issue date, or both, before you save.

Add a new induction

  1. Go to Compliance > Inductions.
  2. Click + Add New in the top right.
  3. Enter the Induction name.
  4. Tick Expiration Required and/or Issue Required, depending on whether this induction needs an expiry date and/or an issue date recorded and kept current.
  5. Click Save. A message confirms the induction has been added and it appears in the list. You can edit it later at any time.

Edit an induction

  1. Go to Compliance > Inductions.
  2. Click the induction you want to change to open the panel on the right. You can also click the vertical ellipsis at the end of the row and select Edit.
  3. Update the Induction name if needed.
  4. Tick or untick Expiration Required and/or Issue Required as required.
  5. Click Save. A message confirms the induction has been saved.

Delete an induction

Warning

Deleting an induction removes it permanently from the inductions list and from every field worker who has it, and removes all related assignments. This cannot be undone.

Deleted inductions can no longer be selected in the induction drop-down list when you add or update a worker's induction details.

  1. Go to Compliance > Inductions.
  2. Click the vertical ellipsis (⋮) at the end of the induction you want to delete.
  3. Select Delete.
  4. On the confirmation message, click Delete to confirm, or Cancel if you are not sure.

Things to know

  • Expiration Required means each worker must have an expiry date recorded against the induction. This is what lets you track upcoming expiries from the dashboard.
  • Issue Required means each worker must have an issue date (the date the induction was completed or issued) recorded against it.
  • Ticking neither box makes the induction a simple yes/no record with no dates tracked.
  • There is no archive or undo for inductions. If you only want to stop using one going forward, leave it in place rather than deleting, because deleting strips it from every worker and assignment.
  • Renaming an induction updates it everywhere it appears, including the drop-down lists in the Dashboard and the mobile app.
