Introduction

In this article you will learn about Assignar user types, how to add new users, set permissions and how to maintain user records.

Introduction to User Types

Assignar has 2 user types that will use the Assignar applications in different ways.

  • Dashboard Users - This user type primarily works in the "office", coordinating work and verifying field data, using a laptop/desktop computer to access Assignar.  This type of user will use the Assignar web application through a web browser like Google Chrome.
  • Fieldworker Users - This user type primarily works in the "field", doing work on job sites and will be using Assignar on a mobile device.  This type of user will use the Assignar Mobile Applications available on iOS, Android and Mobile Web Browser.

Adding and Managing Dashboard Users

There are 2 ways to add Dashboard Users to the Assignar application.  First is through the Legacy Data Import tool which you can learn more about here.  You can also add a Dashboard User by using the Add New User form in the Web Application.

To get started click Resources in the left side navigation and then click Dashboard Users.  This will open the Dashboard Users list page where you can view / update existing users and create new users.

After clicking the + Add New Dashboard User you will be brought to the new user form where you can add all of the user details.  Please view a description of all fields below, fields marked with a (*) are required.

Field Description
User Photo Image Upload
Employee ID Used to hold an ID from another application for easy data syncing.
First Name* The users first name.
Last Name* The users last name.
User Name* Username is the users unique id used to login.
Email Address* The user's email address.
DOB The user's date of birth.
Mobile The user's mobile phone number.
Address The user's home address
City / Suburb The user's home city / suburb
State The user's home state.
Zip Code / Post Code The users home zip code / post code.
Emergency Contact The user's emergency contact person.
Emergency Phone The emergency contact person's phone number.
Comments General space for comments about the user.
Tags User tags are used to group users and make them easy to search for.
Suppliers If the user is external to your company you can register them with a supplier.

After setting all of the user's information click save and then you will be asked to set the user access permissions for the user.  These settings control which types of data the user can create and edit in the application.

After the user has been configured they can login to the web application by visiting www.dashboard.assignar.com (North America) or www.dashboard.assignar.com.au (APAC) and clicking reset password and providing the clientid for your account and their username.

Adding and Managing Fieldworker Users

There are 2 ways to add Fieldworker Users to the Assignar application.  First is by importing Fieldworkers through the Assisted Data Import tool.  You can also add a Fieldworker User by using the Add New User form in the Web Application.

To get started click Resources in the left side navigation and then click Fieldworkers.  This will open the Fieldworker Users list page where you can view / update existing users and create new users.

Field Description
User Photo Image Upload

Role Workers perform Roles on the job site, add all of the roles that this worker is capable of performing.
First Name* The users first name.
Last Name* The users last name.
User Name* Username is the users unique id used to login.
Email Address* The user's email address.

Mobile The user's mobile phone number that will be used to notify them of work assignments.
Address The user's home address
City / Suburb The user's home city / suburb
State The user's home state.
Zip Code / Post Code The users home zip code / post code.
Emergency Contact The user's emergency contact person.
Emergency Phone The emergency contact person's phone number.
Comments General space for comments about the user.
Tags User tags are used to group users and make them easy to search for especially when scheduling.
Suppliers If the user is external to your company you can register them with a supplier.

After the user has been configured they can login to the web application by visiting www.mobile.assignar.com clicking reset password and providing the clientid for your account, their username and region.  These users can also do this through the mobile apps if they have them downloaded.
