Add / Edit / Delete - Competencies (Qualifications)

  • Updated

Add, edit, and delete the competencies (qualifications) your workers need to stay compliant, and control whether each one has to have an expiry date or an issue date recorded against it.

Before you start

Competencies (qualifications) added here become available to select when you set up skills and when you add qualifications to a worker.

Deleting a competency (qualification) is permanent. Read the delete section before you remove one.

How to add a competency (qualification)

  1. Go to Compliance > Competencies (Qualifications).
  2. Click + Add New in the top right. A panel opens on the right of the screen.
  3. Enter the competency (qualification) name in the Enter Competency name field.
    • Competency names are capped at 50 characters including spaces.
  4. Tick Expiration Required if this qualification must have an expiry date recorded, and tick Issue Required if it must have an issue date recorded. You can tick one, both, or neither.
  5. Click Save.

How to edit a competency (qualification)

  1. Go to Compliance > Competencies (Qualifications).
  2. Click the competency (qualification) row, or click the menu on that row and select Edit. The panel opens on the right pre-filled with the current details.
  3. Update the name, or tick/untick Expiration Required and Issue Required as needed.
  4. Click Save.

How to delete a competency (qualification)

Important

Deleting a competency (qualification) removes it permanently. It is also removed from any skills or workers that use it, and it will no longer appear in the drop-down list when you add or update a skill or a worker.

  1. Go to Compliance > Competencies (Qualifications).
  2. Find the competency (qualification) you want to remove, click the () menu on that row, and select Delete.
  3. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Things to know

  • Expiration Required and Issue Required control whether an expiry date or issue date must be entered when the qualification is added to a worker. Turning one on does not backfill dates on existing worker records.
  • Competency names must be 50 characters including spaces or fewer.
  • Deleting a competency (qualification) cascades. If it is attached to a skill or to workers, it is stripped from all of them, so check where it is used before you delete.
