Who this feature is for

  • Those set up as a Dashboard User with access to Assisted Import in the Assignar Web App.
  • Those responsible for the setup of Assignar in your company.

Great job! You've almost setup all the information you need to get started with Assignar! Let's continue, and get your Roles setup into Assignar.

What are Roles?

A Role is the type of work that a worker can perform (e.g Laborer or something like Excavation Level 2).  You can attach more information to each Role (e.g. specific workers or equipment) to represent that this role can only be performed by a particular worker with this particular equipment, which will come in handy when you schedule your jobs!

There are 2 ways to add Roles in Assignar. The first is when you're importing Fieldworkers or Equipment using Assisted Import.

When you're importing Fieldworkers or Equipment using our Assisted Import, you'll see a column called Roles.

Because some workers and equipment are capable of performing more than one type of job this field will accept 1 or many roles.  If you choose to import multiple roles make sure that you have the roles separated by commas.  When you create roles this way, Fieldworkers and Equipment will automatically be added to the Roles.

Alternatively, you can add Roles from the Roles page in the Assignar Web App.

  1. Navigate to the Roles page
  2. Tap +Add New
  3. Complete all the relevant fields.
  4. Save

Fields Field Description
Role Name (Required) The name of your Role. Make it specific to your business, based on how you schedule and organize workers.
Workers & Equipment

Toggle between the Workers and Equipment tabs to add resources to the role.

On the Equipment tab if you check Equipment needed, users will be prompted to add equipment when scheduling this role, if you add equipment to this role those specific assets will be recommended.

You can add skills to ensure that only compliant workers are recommended when scheduling a role. Skills can also be added directly to equipment if you have complex skill based scheduling requirements.

Role Forms

If a Form is added here, the Form will be automatically added to a work assignment for each worker when this role is scheduled.

Docket Templates

If a docket template is added here, it will be made available to users with this role as it may be specific to the type of work that they do.

External ID

If you need to sync this Role to a payroll system or Project Management solution, add the ID used in that system here to make data download and upload easier.

An Account Code for applying costs correctly in your ERP or bookkeeping tool.

Fieldworkers and Equipment attached to Roles will be recommended when you're scheduling!

Now that you've set up your Roles, any worker and equipment setup for a particular role will be recommended during the scheduling process (if these resources are available).

Happy Scheduling! ✨
