Copy an existing form template to use as the starting point for a new, similar form, so you do not have to rebuild it from scratch. The copy is created unpublished, so you can review and edit it before making it live.
How to copy a form
- Go to Field Data > Forms and open the Templates tab.
- Next to the form you want to copy, click the vertical ellipsis (⋮) icon.
- Click Copy.
- In the Copy Form Template window, tick Include custom template? if you want the form's custom print template copied across as well.
-
This option only matters if the form has a custom print template attached.

- Click Confirm.
- The copied form appears in the Templates tab named [original name] (Copy), and it is unpublished.
Things to know
- The copy is always created unpublished. Publish it when you are ready for workers to use it.
- The copy is named [original name] (Copy). You can rename it before you publish. If you are replacing an existing form we recommend adding V2 to the title and archive the old form once the new version is live.
- If you include the custom print template, its variable codes (for example {$id2}) stay mapped to the same questions. Reordering questions in the copy will not break that mapping.
- If you change, add, or remove questions in the copy, update the custom print template to match.
