Who this feature is for
You can calculate how many Regular, Overtime or second Overtime hours your workers should be paid, based on rules that you set up in our Overtime Rules page - saving you time from manually calculating them in a spreadsheet!
If you’re currently using a custom payroll export with Insights to calculate Overtime, you can continue using that. However, our Overtime Rules page is incompatible with Insights. We strongly encourage you to manage Payroll using our Overtime Rules page. It's easy to set up and easier to use!
To begin, go to the Overtime Rules page
Next, set your week's starting day
The week's starting day will be used to calculate Overtime across the week. This should also align to your company's pay period. For example, if your company pay period is Monday - Sunday, then select Monday as your week's starting day.
Set your Overtime Rules
- Configure your company's Overtime rules that apply to all your workers.
- Tap the toggle to turn it on
We support several Rules for Overtime:
|Workers start earning Overtime or second Overtime after the number of hours you've set here has been met.
Workers start earning Overtime after they have accrued the set hours of regular time, over the course of the week.
Workers start earning Second Overtime after they have accrued the set hours of Regular Time or first Overtime, over the course of the week.
Here you can configure overtime rules that apply on Saturday and Sunday.
Test your Overtime Rules
You can test your Overtime Rules as you set them up to understand how your rules will apply with timesheets of 11 hours work and 1 hour break each day.
Don't forget to Apply Changes and see your worker's hours calculated in the Weekly tab from the Timesheets page.
Will I be able to set up different rules for different workers?
Any Overtime rule that you set up will be applied to all of your workers.
We understand that some Overtime Rules may need to be setup differently for different workers. If that is something that your company requires, please let us know using the link below!
